If simply stating “I love this book!” were sufficient enough to constitute a full blog article, I’d be tempted to leave it at that.
Hilariously realistic, reassuring and (gasp!) logical, Kathy Buckworth’s Shut Up and Eat is packed with refreshingly simple mealtime tips and advice for busy moms. Something I appreciate, being constantly stumped over what to feed my picky guys. I laughed out loud countless times reading this addictive book and learned handy new tricks at the same time. How’s that for multi-tasking?
Being a mom who isn’t prone to making things from scratch, I especially loved Kathy’s guilt-free approach to taking shortcuts. It’s not often you find a recipe that allows for convenience foods in its’ ingredients, or laid-back instructions like “Go and have a coffee with a girlfriend. You’re done.” and it’s about time! Kathy Buckworth proves you don’t have to be Martha to dish up fast, family-approved meals with finesse. Ones they’ll actually eat. Hallelujah!
Shut Up and Eat is the ultimate survival guide for planning weeknight meals, social gatherings, dinners out – even grocery trips – with minimal insanity. Kathy’s fuss-free methods are practical, but also a blast to read, something I really can’t say for most other food or parenting books I’ve found. Created with time constraints, picky eaters and (most importantly!) moms in mind, this book and this author are my new favourites.
Shut Up and Eat gets an easy 10 out of 10 “Happy Mama” faces!

Kathy Buckworth is an award-winning Canadian writer, television personality and public speaker who also happens to be a busy mom of 4. Somehow she has found the time to add Shut Up and Eat to her list of other equally fabulous books, including The Secret Life of SuperMom, SuperMom: A Celebration of All You Do, Journey to the Darkside: SuperMom Goes Home and The BlackBerry Diaries: Adventures in Modern Motherhood. And you think you don’t have time to cook???
