Life balance coach Laurel Crossley-Byers, founder of Opti-Mom has been a friend of Mums ‘n Chums for over a year now, and we’re thrilled to support her in her newest venture- helping kids!

Opti-mom is Shifting Focus to Help Kids!

In addition to her powerful coaching sessions, inspiring community presentations, Simply Blossoming Women’s Retreat , MomU! television show, and our very own live chat series right here on the Mums ‘n Chums chat board , *the ever-energetic Laurel has now taken on a very meaningful and much needed project- supporting children: mind, body and spirit.

Laurel is now shifting focus away from her former Opti-mom playground events for women to sharing her gift of life coaching with children, aged 8-19 to help alleviate anxiety, stress and sleep disruptions.

Curious as to what inspired the change, we sat down with Laurel to find out. Our interview gave further insight into what keeps her focused and determined to continue helping people- including children -better themselves.

Mums ‘n Chums: Laurel, why the shift in focus? Why now?

Laurel: “My entire life has always revolved around children. In 1990 I was denied access to teacher’s college and believed I wasn’t good enough to work with kids. It wasn’t until March of 2011 that I realized I was wrong- I walked into a class for a volunteer talk about careers and felt an instant connection with the kids. I knew at that moment I had to do that work. That is my passion!”

Mums ‘n Chums: What drives that passion to help kids?

Laurel: “Our planet it going into a major shift on how we think, how we work, how we behave. In this shift, it is how we manage to make these connections -mind, body and spirit. So many people have lost this connection to self, and kids are closer to it than we (adults) are. They are much more receptive and understanding that we are. When we are not connected to self, we are anxious, depressed, more susceptible to addiction if we get too far from the core of who we are. It’s amazing to me how connecting children to themselves in mind, body and spirit is crucial for setting them up for success in life.”

Mums ‘n Chums: What have you enjoyed most about this new passion so far?

Laurel: “I am in LOVE with what I’m doing, it has wrapped itself around my heart! I get weepy when I think about how much I love working with kids.”

Mums ‘n Chums: What about the events you do for moms- the Girls nights out and the Opti-mom playgrounds?

Laurel: “So many new mom and parent support groups have sprouted up since I started, such as Mums ‘n Chums- they have really exploded. I don’t feel there’s a need to continue that any longer. It’s my time to move forward and to fill the gaps- to support the children and youth in our communities.”

Mums ‘n Chums: Why do you feel this is so important right now?

Laurel: It has to do with the planetary shift- simplifying life by making energetic changes. If we’re working to support the health of mind, body and spirit, we can use that as a way to support our family life!”

Having seen some inspiring and profound “a-ha!” moments during our Opti-mom live chat sessions with Mums ‘n Chums members, we have full confidence in Laurel’s abilities. Mums ‘n Chums wishes Laurel and Opti-Mom continued success in the years to come on her new venture. Thanks Laurel, for all you do!
